Defectos Torácicos: Tratamiento de Pectus Excavatum y Pectus Carinatum

Las deformidades del desarrollo entre los 11 y 18 años, principalmente en jóvenes, se concentran en dos condiciones: Pectus Excavatum (defecto hundido) y Pectus Carinatum (defecto saliente) y sus variantes intermedias mixtas.

Valoración Médica: Repercusiones Físicas y Funcionales

Estas condiciones son comúnmente subestimadas o no valoradas con importancia médica hasta que el defecto se torna notorio, a veces doloroso y con repercusión afectiva, social, física y de restricción funcional del pulmón y corazón, específicamente en el caso del Excavatum.

Tratamientos Personalizados Según la Edad

Edades en desarrollo (11 a 18 años): Existen posibilidades de uso de dispositivos de presión no invasivos (específicamente para Carinatum). * Después de los 18 años: Con el crecimiento óseo completado, solo se pueden ofrecer procedimientos que van desde lo mínimamente invasivo hasta la reconstrucción completa del tórax llamada Condroplastía de Ravitch. Cada caso debe ser valorado en forma particular para definir la mejor opción de tratamiento.
